Ŭtasiĭ is the capital of the High Kingdom of Yi. Historically known as Aatassyr, the town gained prominence in the 9th century when it was chosen by members of the Rei nobility in opposition to the rule of the Rei King as their base of operations. Under the first High King, Siaura Ütöingkë (Siowa Inŭhŏ), Ŭtasiĭ de facto became the capital of the High Kingdom, which was only confirmed de iure in 1951.

All of them are surrounded by large walls and generally inaccessible for native Yi. The largest such cathedral is the Nostra Senyora del Dolor Perpetu (Yirō name to be added), which has been under construction since 1901; most of the building is finished and usable for services but the final completion is expected to last for several more decades, also because construction is frustrated by local authorities.
