Erik XII Georg was born in Rensulier Palace on 4 August 1970 as the eldest son of Crown Prince Erik Johann Eirikr. He became the Crown Prince of Emerstari upon his father's accession as king on 10 January 1972, and succeeded him following his abdication on 7 July 1994. He was educated privately and then sent to the Ervinisk Academy. Erik studied history and served in the Emerstarian Navy. In 1992, he married Elsa Ljundburg and they have had three children: Frederik Johann Eirikr, Crown Prince of Emerstari, Karl Olaf Eirikr, Prince of Emerstari, and Frederikke Nathalie Eirikr–Ljundmark, Princess of Emerstari.

Erik is interested in Emerstarian history and culture, sports, nature. Until his accession to the throne, he was a member of the Estelian Hastiludia Committee and the Emerstarian Royal Nature Society. From 2010 to 2014, he served as President of Emerstari.

Early life and education

Erik Jakob Eirikr was born on 4 August 1970 at Rensulier Palace in Coronet, Emerstari. He is the first child of Erik XI Deitrik and Synnøva Leijonhuvud. From birth, Erik has held the titles Prince of Emerstari (Emerstarian: Prins av Emerige), Duke of Småkland (Emerstarian: Hertig av Småkland), and Baron of Vasterflod (Emerstarian: Friherre av Småkland). He was baptized as a member of the Church of Emerstari on 2 January 1971 in Rensulier Cathedral. His godparents are Lorens Adulf Frederikssen, Duke of Ekkesburg, Haakon VI Karl of Coelans, Lodewijk Willem, Prince of Canaria, Annikke Stefanie Ljundstrom–Fjellborg, Duchess of Fjellborg, and Jean-Pierre de Quiemois, Duke of Quiemois.

He has one younger sister: Lovis Johanna, Eirikr–Potois, Princess of Emerstari. He lived with his family at Vasterflodpalats near the village of Ekssjo from his birth until 1972, when his grandfather, Erik X Gustaf abdicated, and his father ascended to the throne. He then received the title Crown Prince of Emerstari.

Erik was privately educated at Rensulier Palace until 1986 when he was sent to Ervinisk Academy, where he would study until 1990. In 1990, at age 20, he joined the Emerstarian Royal Navy as a Marine. One year later, in 1991, Erik X Deitrik gave his consent for the engagement of Erik and Elsa Ljundmark, daughter of Olaf Theodor Ljundmark, Duke of Ljundmark and Svea Ulrika Ragnvaldsdottir, Duchess of Ljundmark.

In addition to his native Emerstarian, Erik XII Georg knows Canarian, Marsei, Rhenish, and English

In addition to this, he has completed extensive military training in the Royal Navy, notably completing the education as a frogman in the Emerstarian naval elite special operations force: Frømandskårett.

  • Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Life Guard (1972)
  • Royal Emerstarian Frogman Corps (1990)
  • First Lieutenant in the Royal Navy (1990)
  • Lieutenant Captain in the Royal Navy (1992)
  • Captain in the Royal Navy (1993)

Marriage and children

On 20 May 1992, Erik and Elsa Ljundmark married at Rensulier Cathedral in Coronet. The couple have had four children, only one of whom was born before his accession to the throne: Frederik Johann Eirikr, Crown Prince of Emerstari (9 November 1993), Karl Olaf Eirikr, Prince of Emerstari (27 March 1995), Frederikke Nathalie Eirikr–Ljundmark, Princess of Emerstari (2 October 1997).

Estelian Hastiluda Committee

On 2 January 1993, Crown Prince Erik was elected a member of the Estelian Hastiluda Committee to replace former Emerstarian member Katja Holm, who had retired but served for only one year. His candidature was met with skepticism both in Emerstari and abroad as it was believed he was too young. Further, it was believed that the Prince's loyalty would be towards his country and government rather than towards the committee. Therefore, in 1994, several months before his accession to the throne, he was replaced by Uldrik Lorens Ferssen and was given special observer status on the committee.

He announced that his point of focus and reason for joining the committee was to promote an active lifestyle among both Emerstarian youth and Emerstarians in general. He left the Estelian Hastiluda Committee in 2010 after two terms of eight years.

Sports and health

Both as Crown Prince and King, Erik encouraged Emerstarian participation in sports. Besides the Estelian Hastiluda Committee, he has been a patron and honorary member of various sporting organizations including the Royal Emerstarian Golfing Association, Royal Emerstarian Sailing Association, and the Northern Scanian Tennis League

Participation in expeditions

Eric XII Georg, during his time in the military, participated in an expedition to Mount Seorosan in Kophavien in 1991. In 1993, he participated in a two-month dog-sled expedition in the northern parts of Fyrland. The expedition marked the 150-year anniversary of the Olafsson–Fjellborg Expedition when the first Emerstarians mapped all of northern Fyrland.

Reign and Presidency

On 27 March 1994, Erik XI Deitrik announced his intention of abdicating, and in the afternoon of 7 July, he signed the instrument of abdication in Kuingshall (Emerstarian: King's Hall). Erik XII Georg, however, did not hold his coronation until 25 December 1994, according to Emerstarian tradition.

As King, Erik has frequent meetings with members of the Foderalkongress and with the President of Emersari as well as his Privy Council. According to the Emerstarian constitution, he signs royal decrees and legislative bills. With the President, he represents Emerstari domestically and abroad. Additionally, at the Foderellkongress's Oppning (Opening of the Federal Congress), he announces the plans of the government for the year. In 2010, he was elected President of Emerstari and served until 2014.

At his accession, he was Eurevia's youngest living monarch. He, however, lost this claim on the inauguration Péire III of Roele.
