Akauroa (Tawhangata: Ākauroa, pronounced: /a:kauɾɔa/), officially the United Tribes of Akauroa (Tawhangata: Nga Iwi Kotahitanga o Ākauroa) is a sovereign state and elective monarchy located in south eastern Savai. It stretches from the Kāwekaweka hills in the west to the Jade Ocean in the east and borders Ajerrin to the north. Akauroa is a federal constitutional elective monarchy constituting of eighteen tribal confederations (iwi), which themselves are constitutional monarchies. The nation covers 291,212 square kilometres and has a population of 32.81 million. The capital city is Paparaki, a former Liidurian settlement and the economic hub of the nation, while the largest city is Tāmako which serves as a important cultural centre.
