Château Pélican d'Rouge
Garden at the Château

The Château Pélican d'Rouge is a grand country house located in Tirzah, Zian. It is especially known for its beautiful gardens.

History

The lands where an ancient fortress once stood were known as d'Belaneau until the 17th century. They were acquired in the early 16th century by Domme Le Breton, an Elbresian lord who ran multiple plantations and mines in the then-Skithan colony, and a new château was constructed around the original 14th-century keep.

The château remained in the Le Breton family for more than two centuries until it was acquired by the Poppaine de Castellane. During the Zamastan War of Independence the property was confiscated by the imperial lords, and in the mid 19th century a factory tycoon Adamme Lonsdale acquired it.

In 1896, Caspiaan proprietor Sverre Gundersen purchased the property and spent much of his family fortune into repairing it and creating beautiful gardens. Its famous Renaissance gardens include a water garden, ornamental flower gardens, and vegetable gardens. The gardens are laid out in formal patterns created with low box hedges. It was reconstructed and renovated heavily by the provincial government and the historic de Castellane family inheritors.

In May 2020, it was purchased for Z$572 million by former-President and business mogul Zacharias Castovia from media businessman Gregory de Castellane.
