IDAItech is a multinational defense contractor based in Lundene, Brytene. The company is still majority-owned by its founder, Tony Idai, widely considered to be one of the most gifted engineers on the planet.
History
The first IDAItech product was unveiled to the public in 1982, when a 12-year-old Tony Idai presented his prototype Dragonhide personal armour to the then-CEO of Kuribayashi Arms during an arms expo. Norubunga Kuribayashi took the young man under his wing, giving him access to the extensive Kuribyashi Arms Research&Development facilities and sponsoring his education.
By the age of 20, Idai had already provided a range of advances for the Kuribayashi Arms concern, and was beginning to chafe under the strict control of Norubunga, he was on the verge of leaving to set up a competitor company when Norubunga tragically died of a heart attack aged 72. His replacement, the young Takara Su, offered Tony a principle investment in his own firm, in return for a 20% stake in future profits and a non-competition agreement. For this reason, IDAItech to this day does not produce infantry firearms, amongst other things.
Formation
IDAItech is a publicly traded company reporting to a board of shareholders. 60% of the total shares remain the personal property of Tony Idai's estates, whilst a further 20% belong to Kuribayashi Arms. The remainder are divided amongst a range of private investors. The current CEO is Sarah Salt.
Operations
IDAItech is a comparatively small company, employing less than 30,000 personnel. It produces mainly DRMs and blueprints for products that are then produced under license by third parties. More sensitive equipment and technologies are produced at Idai Valley, a sprawling facility to the west of Lundene. IDAItech is a successful manufacturer of automated assembly units, reducing the need for raw manpower in many of its most competitive laboratories.
