The AMX-45 is a Sieuxerrian third-generation main battle tank that was designed by GIAT Industries (Now Nexter) in 1973. It was one of the first main battle tanks in Septentrion to be equipped with a high-velocity 120mm smoothbore gun as standard armament.
Development
Development of the AMX-45 began after the lackluster trial performance of the AMX-30 in the 1960s, citing automotive and protection inefficiencies. The first improvement over the AMX-30 design would be the AMX-30, which replaced the previously cast steel turret with a welded turret, a the turret also featured an air gap between two sheets of armor.
