The National Army of Notreceau (Notreceauen: Armée Nationale de Notreceau) is one of two land-based components of the Notreceauen military and is primarily responsible for conducting expeditionary and strike operations. Despite its name, the National Army of Notreceau is actually the smaller of the two land-based military arms of the Notreceauen military (The larger being the National Defense Force of Notreceau), and is an entirely volunteer force. Officially established in 1963, the National Army of Notreceau is the youngest of the five uniformed service components in the Notreceauen military.
The National Army is a strictly professional force and draws recruits from both the Notreceaun Metropole and the Overseas Territories of Notreceau. Service in the National Army (or other volunteer branch of the Notreceauen military such as the National Navy of Notreceau and the National Airforce of Notreceau) is considered a prestigious occupation within the nation and is generally a cultural (and in the case of certain offices official) requirement for political office and advancement. Volunteers in the National Army sign a term of enlistment for five years, after which they are placed on inactive reserve for another three years at the conclusion of their military service.
