Theodor Walter Sidemann (born 13 July 1968) is a former Besmenian politician, who served as the 14th Prime Minister of Besmenia from 2012 to 2021.
Sidemann was born in 1968 in Lichtenberg, Sedakania, where he grew up in a Catholic home. His childhood in Lichtenberg was shaped by the economic and social situation of Sedakania after the Besmenian reunification. In 1988 he joined the Besmenian People's Party. At the 2001 federal election, Sidemann won a seat in the Federal Chamber. After the 2005 federal election, Sidemann became Minister of Education and after the 2009 federal election, Economics Minister.
When Franz Bauer resigned as chairman of the BVP for health reasons in March 2012, Sidemann was elected the new chairman. As BVP Chairman, he was his party's candidate in the 2012 federal election, in which the BVP became the strongest party for the first time in 15 years. A government coalition was formed with the SDU between 2012 and 2016. Between 2016 and 2021, a government coalition was formed with the FBBP, which was often criticized for the partial right-wing orientation of Vice Prime Minister Frank Hille. The criticism came mainly from the PBL, the GPB and some politicians from the SDU. After the Hille affair at the end of April 2021, in which the FBBP came under serious criticism, Sidemann was also heavily criticized as Prime Minister. On May 2, 2021, the Sidemann III government was overthrown by a motion of no confidence. The government remained in office on an interim basis until May 8th.
