Al Basar is the third biggest city within the United Sultanates of Suhal, it is also the capital of the Al Basar Sultanate. Al Basar has a metro population of 1.6 million making it the third most populated city within the nation after Al Jahran and above Abellone. Characterized by its desert setting, skyscrapers and colorful nightlife Al Basar has earned an unofficial title as the "Oasis City". Founded 300 BC (estimated) Al Basar was a small trading town, located along the Basar Ridgeline it developed as a major waypoint for merchants crossing the desert towards Al Jahran and Al Suhal. When oil was discovered along the Basar Ridgeline in the 1930's Al Basar grew rapidly to accommodate rig and construction workers. The city grew and developed rapidly as Al Basar got rich off of the newly discovered oil, prompting national and international investment. The city's commercial district, dominated by its modern glass and steel skyscrapers was developed during the 2000-2015 financial boom where the local Nayib invested 9.2 billion Suhalese Dhar into the lopment. Today the local economy of Al Basar is almost entirely dedicated to oil and natural gas extraction.
