The Apex (Chinese: 超级; pinyin: Chāojí, lit. (The) Super) is an upcoming villain in Realms of the Multiverse. She is the first homunculus character to be introduced in the franchise. She will be fought as a boss in several campaigns and playable as the protagonist of her own campaign.
Design
The Apex is a woman physically in her teens to her early twenties. She has a rounded face with thick lips, large eyes, and a sharp, straight nose. She has a tall, slim frame and is one of the tallest female characters in the franchise. Her mark of the Starchild, which is black and shaped like Ophiucus, is on her right thigh. Owing to her vampire genes, she has pale skin and a pair of retractable fangs.
Personality
Due to her chronological age and a lack of proper parenting, The Apex is psychologically underdeveloped and has been described as having the mind of someone half her physical age, reinforced by her use of simplistic vocabulary. However, as she was created and trained as a weapon, she has the cunning to use predatory tactics and strategize in battle as shown in her boss fight.
She called her genetic sources "mama" (妈妈), proving that she is aware she was made from their genes.
Despite having vampire DNA and being classified as a homunculus due to the circumstances of her creation, she identifies as a human, parroting her creator's sentiment that she is the peak of human beauty and physique. It's because of being constantly exposed to this sentiment that her confidence easily borders on arrogance, not being able to stand the idea of being perceived as anything but. She goes on a rampage after being insulted by a Humanity First member and being called an "abomination".
Profile
The Apex was created in a top secret lab by a rogue Huang-Ahn scientist and his followers who deem Tianshi's methods of creating the perfect people to be "old-fashioned, slow, and sloppy". By stealing the genetic materials of the monarch's concubines and using them to create living clones, he considers the act as "jump-starting the human evolution" and fulfilling the empire's vision of improving humanity in general. She is considered to be the only successful specimen of the entire project, with her 30 siblings either dying young because they lacked the vampiric ability to prolong lifespan by ingesting blood or being left to die by the lab's team of scientists because they displayed lackluster traits.
