The Hohhot Ancients (Chinese: 呼和浩特 恐龙 魁地奇团队; pinyin: Hūhéhàotè kǒnglóng, Hohhot Dinosaurs) is the quidditch team of its namesake city. It is often considered one of the most aggressive teams in the empire, along with the Saigon Snipers.
Overview
Hailing from the capital of one of the provinces known for its rich fossil deposits, the Hohhot Ancients is themed around dinosaurs and prehistoric life.
Consistent with their theming, the Ancients emphasize brute force and players, especially "Rex" are notorious for causing injury to their opponents.
Despite their questionable tactics, they are one of the most viewed and renowned quidditch teams in the world, with many fans coming from abroad to watch their domestic matches against their rivals the Ordos Horde, Ulanbaatar Keshig, and Harbin Mechanists, proven by being in the top five in average attendance in both Amenria and Orientia.
History
Players
Tang Xueliang
"Terry" Tang Xueliang is the captain of the team. Consistent with his therizinosaurus motif, Tang's steady hands and strong grip are good for catching balls and driving hoverbikes alike.
Trivia
- Hohhot is also known as the blue city, fitting the team's primary colour
- The only tyrannosaurs found in Inner Mongolia are Alectrosaurus and another undetermined species. Ironically, the mascot closely resembles the T-rex instead of the former, a species which is found thousands of kilometres away in the United States.
