The Social Democratic Party is the largest political party in Seredinia by seats in the Zemsky Sobor and currently the senior partner of the governing Social Democratic-Liberal Republican coalition. Originally founded as the Social-Labor Party in 1881, the party split into the Social Democrats and the left-wing Labor Party after the end of the Second Triangle War in 1953 due to internal disagreements. The party has been led by Nadezhda Vyrubova since 22 July 2013.

The Social-Labor Party was initially founded by noble Count Stephan Kosov as an essentially fake party, controlled by directives from the Palace of Golden Hills and meant to hamper the power of newly-enfranchised workers. Despite such beginnings, by 1887 it had become a solvent and independent political party through the decline of noble influence. It played a role in the Christmas Revolution of 1878, which saw the Seredinian Monarchy deposed and the reigning Tsar Anatole I imprisoned. Historically the largest left-wing political entity in Seredinia, the Social Democratic and Social-Labor parties have contributed numerous Prime Ministers and Presidents to the Seredinian executive.

The Social Democrats hold a plurality of seats in the lower Zemsky Sobor with 298, and through their coalition with the Liberal Republicans maintain a 23 seat majority. They are the second-largest party in the upper Federal Council with 80 seats.
