Terrasina (Sydalene: Terrasini), informally referred to as Veteropolis (lit. Old city) is a city of Latium located on the North Scipian coast.
Bordered by Sydalon, it lays just east of the boundary of the Salacian Ocean and the Periclean Sea. It is a considered an integral part of Latium, and is officially within the diocese Scipia Periclea, and a group of holdings informally referred to as Arces imperialis, or Imperial strongholds, which includes Sasora, Scheria, Lampeda, and Silura. Control over Terresinia is disputed with Sydalon and despite recent improvements in Latin-Sydalene relations, the territorial status of the city remains contentious.
The city's current status as a settlement with full city rights dates to 9 July 1951. The city is primarily governed by an Imperial-appointed Urban Prefect, and the unicameral Assembly of Terrasina. Jacaerus Corvus has served as Urban Prefect since 19 June 2022. Terrasina serves as a key sea port and is host to CSN Veteropolis.
Names
An Aradian settlement at or near the site of modern day Terrasina was first established around the 9th century BC. The name of the city derives from the Latin terra sinus, meaning roughly "land at the gulf," or terra sinorum, meaning "land of the bays", due to its location near the [bay near Ostracine]. The city is also informally referred to as Veteropolis, (lit. "Old City").
