The Grand Duchy of Arkatzia, a poor, densely populated nationstate, is a large nation indecisively run by the Chief Protector, which is also commonly a member of the Arkatzian Royal Dynasty. Arkatzia is also indirectly governed by the Arkatzian State Senate a level lower. Arkatzia is located on the planet Anteria and is on the continent Atracia.
Geography
Arkatzia is inside the Anterian Region in Atracia. Its western and southern border resides next to the ocean, the Northern boundary on the Alseerian border and the rest is surrounded by currently unoccupied extensive grassland. While definitely not the smallest nation on the map, you would likely need to know where to look in order to catch a glimpse. Arkatzia is mostly dominated by grassland but its land is most famous for its large rainforests.

Arkatzia has several notable cities, the largest of which holds the nation's Government and Military Headquarters; Farbanara.

Leadership
The current De Jure leader of Arkatzia is Chief Protector Hulberigan II, a dictator that holds most of the state's power and is also the leading member of the Arkatzian Royalty. Currently 42 years old, Hulbergian has ruled Arkatzia for 8 years and is currently the oldest legitimate sibling with 1 sister and 2 younger brothers. Hulberigan, despite his respected position and social status, is highly paranoid and usually interferes little in politics, much to the Chagrin of the Monarchist Arkatzian Party.
While from the outset the Chief Protector is seen as the sole ruling position in Arkatzia, the truth is far less glamorous. After the Arkatzian Civil War, the real mastermind behind the state has been the Vice Protector, who is elected (in questionable elections) by the Senate. The current Vice Protector, Lorbridan Raeria, usually attends diplomatic meetings in the place of the Chief Protector and is often seen at the head of Arkatzian diplomatic negotiations and treaties.
It is also bold to note, that, while the Chief Protector is seen as the highest ruling elite, the Vice Protector usually encourages most of the Chief Protectors important governing decisions, and that most Chief Protector's reigns often last shortly when they appear resistant.
The Senate
The Arkatzian State Senate, also referred to as plainly "The Senate", is the secondary committee that leads Arkatzia. It comprises of 223 seats, made up mostly of the 4 major political parties. The seats are elected by the Arkatzian population in every region, which as of 2019, is about 7,100,000 people per seat. The number of seats was decided after the Civil War, where at the time the population was much lower. As many writers and political scientists point out, the Arkatzian population has grown nearly 8 times since the end of the civil war, and the now near 7 million people represented per seat has caused a lot of underrepresentation over the last several years. Despite several failed attempts to revise the government, the Senate has remained unchanged since 1923.
Chief Protector
The Chief Protector is the highest recognized Power in the Arkatzian state, commonly seen as the sole controller of Arkatzia.
History
Founding
The first tribes to originate in Arkatzia are predicted to have settled in the area 30,000 years ago. Archaeology has shown that many of the more dominant tribes went along rivers next to the rainforest, where they would collect native Fruits and berries from the bushes. Most tribes in the region practiced Vovtopu, a religion which worshipped 5 main gods, who on every Solar Eclipse would meet at Solartatus, home of the Thankful (the Sun) and discuss the worshippers' fates. If they were deemed unthankful and had bestowed the gods few, if any gifts, then it is said that when Lutitus, home of the Unthankful (the moon), passes over the sun, darkness shall be cast over the land and in the darkness, the Unthankful will all be killed. Their spirits will then be swallowed by Lutitus, blocking their access to Solartatus, and ensuring their place forever on the Home of the Unthankful. Once the eclipse is over, all those who have survived earned their right to live a bit longer, and if they die at any time other than the eclipse, their spirits will travel safely to Solartatus, where they shall endure endless pleasantries in the afterlife.
