General U Yarzar Htun Tun Yaza (ယရးဇရိ တတုန တုန ယဇ) was a Bethausian military officer and poet who commanded the 2nd Division of the Free Bethausian Army of the East. Noted for his youthful features, he became known by his associates and his men as Maung Yaza (မောင်ယဇ). Yaza is known to be one of the most reliable commanders of the Bethausian military, gaining appreciation from his superior Zaw Sein Arkar and his colleagues.
Early Life
Yaza was born in Machandar in the Sagaing Province (present-day Sagaing Region) in 12 September 1903. When the Tarhaaja War waged with the Imperials advancing onto Kengkaw, his family left for asylum in the United Kingdom. There, he received his education and desired to become a military commander.
