The Nationalwehr is the unified armed forces of the national administration and governate administrations of Bakyern. The Nationalwehr's main function is protecting Bakyern from external threats and providing aid to Bakyern's allies overseas. The current branches of the armed force are the ground forces, air force, and special forces. The governates of Bakyern have their own militaries called Territorialheer, and are mainly different in purpose from the branches of the national armed forces.
The Nationlwehr has maintained a status of military power for a time, with it being a well-trained, organized, and equipped fighting force. The Nationalwehr tries to maintain a line of domestic and indigenous suppliers but take in equipment and technology from countries such as Gassasinia. The high command is decentralized and divided between cantons in terms of Territorialheer. More freedom for officers and generals is allowed, allowing them to make more actions on their behalf rather than relying on approval from seniority.

History
Originally the armed forces of Bakyern were the Landwehr, which was dissolved into the Nationalwehr in 1993. Before the formation, the Landwehr was incredibly decentralized and was made out of the armies of regions, ethnic groups, and paramilitary groups alongside government loyalists. From the years 1950s to 1970s, the Landwehr was mainly used to crackdown on far-left militias and revolting groups. A history of violence and brutality has been noted with a wide array of war crimes under the name of the Landwehr.
In 1986 the Landwehr threatened to coup the king unless the abdicates, this caused the king to abdicate in fear of a military coup with support of the population. This allowed the creation of the Bak Confederation but meant the Landwehr had to dissolve into the Nationalwehr as an organized fighting force.
