The Sultan of Sharifistan is the Sharifistani head of state and head of government. They are also the Commander in-Chief (Amir Al-Akbar) of the Sharifistani Armed Forces and Head of the Justice System.

Under Sharifistani law, the Sultan of Sharifistan has absolute power (though in practice the Sultan seldom gets involved in individual court cases and police investigations). The Sultan actively exercises their power in appointing and dismissing judges, ministers etcetera. Sultan Ed Ashleigh is known for being extremely willing to exercise their power as Sultan. '
