The Kingdom of Freedonia or just Freedonia is a nation in the Coalition of Crown Albatross located of the coast of the continent of Adula, in the Toyana Ocean. The Kingdom is divided into 10 Regions. Freedonia is a developed country.

Etymology

The first theory comes from Freedom lands or Free lands. Another theory comes from a ancient settlement that may or may not existed before the widely accepted date of humans first arriving on the Freedonia Islands in 1066. It is unclear when the inhabitants of the islands starting calling their lands Freedonia.

History

Geography

The Geography of Freedonia ranges from the Freedonia Alps to the hilly plains and forests. The Freedonia Alps has Summit Peak, the highest mountain in the country located in Southland.

There are several temperate rainforests along the slopes of the Freedonia Alps. As well as regular temperate forests. It is estimated as of 2020 70% of the country is covered in forests.

From the rocky shores to the bays and natural harbors. There are several major rivers including the longest river, Pova River at 122 miles long. The largest bay is Whale Bay at 380 sq miles in water area.

Climate

The climate of Freedonia is temperate. The climate ranges from Humid Subtropical Tropical to Oceanic Climate to Subpolar Oceanic Climate. Precipitation ranges from 36 inches in the dry zones and the rain shadows of the Freedonia Alps to over 252 inches of rain in rainforests. The precipitation average is 67 inches.

On average the humid subtropical North is the warmest and sunniest region of the country. Temperatures range from 74°F to 79°F during the summer and 58°F to 54°F during the winter. Snow is uncommon excluding the hills and mountains during cold snaps.

On average the oceanic climate of the rest of the country has temperatures range from 63°F to 70°F during the summer. And 44°F to 49°F during the winter. Snow is common during the winter.

On average the subpolar oceanic climate which is constricted to the mountains of the Freedonia Alps. Temperatures range from 50°F to 55°F during the summer to 28°F to 34°F during the winter. Snow can occur in Autumn, Winter, and Spring. Snow is very rare during the summer.

Heatwaves occur every year. Along with them brings humid conditions. The highest temperature ever recorded was 101°F. The highest heat index was 108°F. A heatwave is considered when temperatures reach or exceed 82°F. It is rare for long duration heatwaves of 3 days or longer to occur.

Cold snaps occur every year. There have been known to bring snowstorms and blizzards. The coldest temperature ever recorded was -14°F. Cold Snaps can be long duration. With most cold snaps lasting from 3-5 days.

Freedonia is broken up into 10 Regions. Each region is subdivided into Counties. Each County is divided into two categories. Unincorporated land and Incorporated Municipalities. 2 of the 8 regions are City Regions which are subdivided into Boroughs. The Boroughs are further divided into neighborhoods.

A Region is a sub-national political entity that has some governmental authority as enshrined in the Constitution of Freedonia. A Region has a Premier that is elected by the Regional unicameral legislature assembly or Parliament. Each Region is divided into counties. Each County has a Chief Administrator elected by the local population. Each County is divided into unincorporated land which is controlled by the county government and incorporated land which is controlled by the Municipality.

There is a special case of three Regions. City Regions have a Mayor that is elected by the City Council. The City Region is divided into Boroughs. Each Borough is divided into neighborhoods. City Regions have equal authority to Regions.
