Wottested (Dellish: Wottestêd, Swathish: Wotteburg, Weranian: Wottestadt), officially the Free State of Wottested (Frijsteat Wottestêd, Freistaat Wottestadt, Frėvsċirriċe af Wotteburg), is the second largest city in Alsland after Yndyk and the smallest Province of Alsland with a population of 437,839. Wottested's metropolitan area has a population of 1,283,391 and it's urban area has a population of 1,936,278. Wottested shares borders with Zittau in the north, Hamptonshire in the east, Herne in the south and Lower Delland in the west.
Prior to being annexed by Kirenia following the Ten Years' War, Wottested was a principality within the Rudolphine Confederation. Historically it was the largest and most important city in the Alslandic region and developed a distinct culture separate from it's Weranian, Swathish and Dellish neighbours. The city served as the capital of the short-lived Republic of Delland in 1919 before the capital was moved to Yndyk. The city was almost entirely levelled during the Battle of Wottested during the Great War and was subsequently rebuilt. The city's population and significance has never completely recovered from the destruction it faced during the Great War. It serves as the capital of the modern day Dellish Community although after a referendum in 2018 the provincial government has requested to secede and form it's own community separate from Delland.
With a nominal GDP per capita of €58,399 it is the richest province per capita in Alsland. It is home to the Wottested stock exchange which is the largest stock exchange in Alsland. It has the highest number of millionaires in Alsland. It is also part of a conurbation which includes Rahu, Yndyk, Wottested and Kirchester. In 1950 Wottested hosted that year's annual Invictus games and is the only city in Alsland to have done so. The city is also home to Alsland's busiest airport, Wottested-Yndyk International Airport which also partially serves Yndyk as well, over 26,000,000 passengers flew through Wottested-Yndyk International Airport in 2020 making it the Xth busiest airport in Euclea.
The province is the only province in Alsland that has 3 official languages. For most of Wottested's history it has been equally split between Dellish speakers, Swathish speakers and Weranian speakers, a unique culture stemming from this mix of groups has developed inside Wottested. The regional government - backed by a large majority of the local population - claim this proves that the Wottesteder identity is separate from the wider Dellish identity and it should be it's own separate community within Alsland.
