Oakvale is a census-designated place (CDP) and Municipal Utility District in unincorporated central Cameron County, West Monroe, Ibica, located partially within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the neighboring cities of Youngstown and Sandusky. The population was 35,324 at the 2020 census. The community is located at the junction of SH 161 and SH 225

Local government

Oakwood Central Fire Station

The Oakwood CDP is coterminous with the Oakwood Municipal Utility District. Created by the state legislature in 1951 to provide water and sewer services to the area, the MUD has grown to also provide local street maintenance, parks, and fire and EMS coverage to the CDP.

The Oakwood Fire Department covers the area from two stations in the community, and has a fire marshal and two deputy marshals that see to fire prevention in the community, as well as being the MUDs only law enforcement officers.

The Cameron County Hospital District operates the Oakwood Health Center at 4755 SH 161 in Oakwood.

The Oakwood CDP is served by Cameron County Sheriff's Office for general law enforcement services.

The Ibican Postal Administration operates the Oakwood Post Office at 105 W SH 225.
