Gruening Defense Aerospace, formerly known as Gruening Aircraft Company, is a Meridonian aerospace company specialized in the production of aircraft, missiles, rockets and weaponry for the Meridon Defense Forces and other government agencies such as the Federal Spatial Advancement Administration, and is one of the largest defense contractors in Meridon. Headquartered in Marin Bay, Mahine Territory, Gruening produces a large amount of the MDF's tactical fixed-wing aircraft and remains involved in government-sector space launch activities.
Originating as one of the earliest formal aircraft companies in Meridon, Gruening's founder, Martin Gruening, secured early contracts with the Navy for the production of seaplanes and eventually carrier-based aircraft. Gruening produced primarily piston-engined transport planes in the civilian market until the Great War saw his production focus entirely on tactical aircraft. The repeated post-war failures of independent Air Forces fighter procurement attempt saw Gruening gain a near-monopoly on the provision of fighter aircraft to both services, although the Ausaine Corporation and Laurein Aerospace have made succesful ventures to the MDF in those fields.
