Meridonian honors and awards system

The honors and awards system of Meridon refers to the system of decorations, orders, and awards issued by Meridon. The Articles of Federation authorize the President of Meridon to create, maintain, and issue such orders, honors, and awards as are deemed fit to recognize and respect the accomplishments of those deemed necessary.

The Meridonian system consists of orders and decorations.

Lifesaving Medal	LSM			Awarded to members of the Meridonian Army or Meridonian Air Forces for acting to preserve the life of others in the face of significant danger.
For Distinguished Service
Defense Superior Service Cross	DSSC		DSSC	Awarded for exceptional contributions in service to the nation, including those in warlike conditions.
Defense Service Medal	DSM		DSM	Awarded for noteworthy and exceptional contributions in service to the nation including those in non-wartime conditions.
Defense Service Commendation	DSC			Awarded for noteworthy contributions and dedication in service to the nation in peacetime conditions.
For Injury
Martyr's Cross	MC		MC	Awarded for those members killed during active service in the execution of their duties by non-natural/negligent/accidental means. Awarded with crossed sabres if it is a combat death, thence Martyr's Cross with Sabres/ MC(S).
Wound Stripe	WS			Awarded for wounds sustained during and as a result of combat operations.
For Captivity
Captive Medal	CPM			Awarded for personnel who were captured by a force hostile to the nation while in the execution of military duties.
For Longevity and Service
Conspicuous Merit Medal	CMM		CMM	Awarded to officers with fifteen years of service with meritorious service. May be awarded steel chevrons at additional five year intervals up to a maximum of four.
Conspicuous Service Medal	CSM		CSM	Awarded to rankers and warrants with fifteen years of service with meritorious service. May be awarded steel chevrons at additional five year intervals up to a maximum of four.
Military Merit Medal	MM			Awarded to officers with at least 5 years of unblemished service. May be awarded steel chevrons at additional five year intervals up to a maximum of four.
Military Service Medal	SM			Awarded to rankers and warrants with at least 5 years of unblemished service. May be awarded steel chevrons at additional five year intervals up to a maximum of four.
Navy Long Service Medal	NLSM			Awarded to rankers and warrants of the Meridonian Navy with at least 10 years of service. Additional silver chevrons may be awarded in four year increments up to four times.
Territorial Long Service Medal	TLSM			Awarded to rankers and warrants of the Meridonian Army with at least 10 years of service. Additional silver chevrons may be awarded in four year increments up to four times.
Air Forces Long Service Medal	ALSM			Awarded to rankers and warrants of the Meridonian Air Forces with at least 10 years of service. Additional silver chevrons may be awarded in four year increments up to four times.
Unit Commendations
Federal Superior Unit Commendation	FSUC			Issued to specific units for demonstrated excellence three times per year or by special issuance. May be worn by all members of the unit serving during the trimester issued.
Allied Superior Unit Commendation	ASUC			Issued to allied units operating alongside Meridonian forces or in the advancement of Meridonian interests with demonstrated excellence. Special issuance only.
Campaign Medals
New England Service Medal	NESM			For service in the New England conflict of 2023.
Altfordshire Service Medal	AFSM			For service in the Altfordshire campaign.
Marquesan Service Medal	MQSM			For service in the Marquesan campaign.
Maltikan Service Medal	MTSM			For service in the Maltikan campaign.
Great War Service Medal	GWSM			For service during the Great War.
For Special Service
War Service Medal	WSM			Issued to all personnel in-service during a period of declared war.
Combat Medal	CM			Awarded for direct participation in actual combat in conduct of their duties.
Expeditionary Service Medal	ESM			Awarded for participation in national defense activities deployed outside of national borders for a period of 6 months or more, or less if participating in significant defense activities.
Foreign Service Medal	FSM			Awarded for participation as a liason or an enabler between Meridon and a foreign nation.
Arctic Service Medal	ASM			Awarded for participation in operations in Nivalia or other such arctic areas in the support of scientific research or national objectives.
For General Service
Defense Medal	DM			Issued upon the completion of an initial enlistment/commission. Additional silver chevrons may be issued at the completion of enlistment/commissions up to a total of four.
Sailor's Ribbon	SR			Issued to members of the Meridonian Navy upon completion of all required training courses and arrival in an active service billet.
Territorial's Ribbon	TR			Issued to members of the Meridonian Army upon completion of all required training courses and arrival in an active service billet.
Airman's Ribbon	AR			Issued to members of the Meridonian Air Forces upon completion of all required training courses and arrival in an active service billet.
