The Jedorian Civil War was a civil war fought in Jedoria between the Socialist Republic of Jedoria and the Combine Rebels. One of the most significant events in Jedorian history, the civil war was largely the result of the economic and social decline of Jedoria following the Cherniyan War, and the resulting power struggle within the Communist Party of Jedoria after the death of General Secretary Aleksis Kraulis. War broke out in September 2004 after a mass defection of military personnel following months of protests across much of Jedoria, but especially in the southern Jedorian States. The Socialist Republic controlled northern Jedoria, while the Combine Rebels largely operated in the south.
Heavy fighting broke out in the spring and summer of 2005, resulting in intense combat between forces of the Jedorian People's Army and the rebels. By late 2005 the rebels had been pushed back in all fronts but the JPA was unable to advance any further, settling the war into a stalemate. Following a number of incidents, including mass killings and other atrocities, a number of foreign powers intervened in support of the rebels, beginning a major build up just outside Jedorian borders before commencing a ground campaign in spring of 2006. Coalition forces succesfully pushed back the JPA throughout the rest of the year, invading northern Jedoria in spring of 2007 and marking the collapse of the Socialist Republic of Jedoria. The war was officially declared over on 20 May 2007.
Much of Jedoria was devastated in the fighting, and intense combat left over 2 million Jedorians dead, with another 8 million wounded. Following the end of the war the Federated Combine was officially established, and Jedoria transitioned from a one party socialist state to a representative free market democracy. The Jedorian Civil war, combined with the Polvokian Civil War earlier, is generally considered to mark the end of international communism in Septentrion. Reconstruction efforts are still underway throughout Jedoria, and are not expected to be complete until 2038.
