The 442nd Infantry Division is an infantry regiment of the Royal Concordian Army. The regiment is best known for its history as a fighting unit composed almost entirely of second-generation Concordian soldiers of Quenminese ancestry who fought in the Second Europan War. Initially designated as a reserve unit, it was designated as a frontline division following the Concordian Parliament's agreement to send troops in the Scandinavian Campaign. Many of the soldiers from the continental Concordia had families in internment camps while they fought abroad. The unit's motto was "Go for Broke".
The 442nd Division is the most decorated unit for its size in Concordian military history. First created as the 442nd Regimental Combat Team when it was activated 1 February 1935, the unit quickly grew to its fighting complement of 7,500 men by April 1936, and an eventual total of about 20,000 men served overall. The unit earned more than 18,000 awards in less than two years, including 9,486 Distinguished Purple Heart and 4,000 Distinguised Service Cross. The unit was awarded eight Prime Minister Unit Citations. Twenty-one of its members were awarded the Georgius Cross.
Initially created to fight in the Asianna and the Pacific Campaign, the Division was transferred to Scandinavia following the creation of the Quenminese government-in-exile, which served as the principle Allied Quenminese force in the war. In Scandinavia, the division was the most widely praised Concordian division, including receiving a Unit Citation for Gallantry from Field Marshal Daidoji Kitagawa. The division is also the only Concordian division in history to receive the Emperor's Imperial Citation from Emperor Dreichels Reize Arnor.
