The Financial Monitor (French reformed: L'Moniteur Financiare) is a Gylian financial newspaper, founded in 1964.
History
It was founded in 1964, by several former The Economic Journal employees who sought to provide an alternate view.
The 1990s saw it adopt new technology such as digital printing, establish its website, and digitise its archives through BiblioNet.
Profile
Its political orientation is broadly leftist. It supports Iana Rynai's concept of "emancipated markets" and its perspective is informed by social credit, distributism, and monetary reform. Its coverage focuses on matters of income distribution, wealth distribution, and the financial aspects of markets from a non-capitalist point of view.
It publishes editions in English, French, and Gylic, with the latter edition using the various Gylic languages based on the native language of the respective writer or region referred to in the story.
Ownership and organisation
The Financial Monitor is owned and published by Finmon, legally constituted as an SàRL. Its headquarters are in Tezira, Aðuna.
The newspaper has a 5-member Management Board and a 10-member Supervisory Board, elected yearly.
Its revenue comes from newsagent's sales, paid subscriptions, online orders, and donations. Donors are listed at the end of each issue. It does not accept advertising.
