Vedalera (from Old Trellinese Vaedhal-Erhië, meaning "Plains-Bridge") is a city in western Trellin. It is the capital and most populous city of Saheri and, with a population estimated at over 2.8 million, is the eleventh largest city in the Trellinese Empire. Saheri is the largest city on the middle Serëtanz, Trellin's chief river, and is the main port upstream of Tanzigar. It is the main industrial centre of Saheri and the centre of a wealthy heartland in the Serëtanz valley.
Established in the fifth century AD, Vedalera's long stone bridge was the last downstream crossing over the Serëtanz before it enters into Lake Tecihqa and thence the I'pethë Canyon. The city was essential as a hub for trade and also served as a crucial frontier town. In the mid-700s it was ravaged by plague and at the end of the century was the initial headquarters of Zilmar the Usurper.
The principality of Vedalera is generally reserved for non-heir offspring of the King of Trellin. The current holder is Prince Udreth.
