Kalei Tun is a Mutulese politician, actor, producer, retired professional grappler, former Pitz player, martial art teacher, and Aj K'in of mixed Mato and Chan origin. He is famed mostly for his career as a professional fighter in the Pugnator Consociatio Mundi circuits where he spent 8 years full-time and four years intermitently as he was began to pursue an acting career. After his retirement, he returned to his birthplace of the Hamik Islands where he was ordained as an Aj K'in Ku and Kajatz teacher. In the wake of the Hamikian Succession Crisis of 2008, Kalei Tun was chosen by the the majority (58%) of the Hamik Ch'ob as their candidate to the position of Hamik Yajaw, a position that was confirmed by the K'uhul Ajaw Jasaw Chan K'awiil V in 2009.
Beside his sportive and political recognitions, Kalei Tun was also proclaimed to be an Avatar of Ku by his disciples and fanatics. From 1998 to 2001, a Commission of the K'uhul Pop was created to establish the legitimacy of the claim. In 2002, Kalei Tun was officially recognized by the K'uhul Ajaw as "Blood of the Western Kukulkan, Name of the Divine who pull together the Earth, who now breath and suffer among us". In the Hamikian Kajatz facilities, it is thus common to find his picture on the sacred altar, together with or replacing the idol of Ku. He was also granted the court rank of Friend at the Ilok'tab Court in 2013.
Early Life
Kalei Tun was born on June 7, 1968 in the Hamik Island to B'alamb K'eh (of Chan ancestry) and Palil Awa, an Aj K'in Ku an Kajatz teacher at his own familial school. He was the second children of the couple. In that familial environment, he would quickly be initiated to Kajatz and gained his first fighting experience in inter-schools and Yajawil-level grappling youth competitions. He won his first official title at 13 years old as Hamik Kuchkabal Youth Champion (56th Edition) and then was crowned Hamik Yajawil Youth Champion three years later in the 58th edition of that event.
It's also during these years that he joined his Ch'ok Nah Pitz team and once again showed promising results. Because of the promises of social elevation carried by a successful Pitz career, he stopped participating in fighting competitions to dedicate himself fully to the ballgame.
Pitz Career
Immediately after completing his scholar cursus, Kalei Tun was recruited by the PC Rahui'o'a on its practice roaster and then was quickly promoted to the substitute roaster. He played for two years for the Rahui'o'a before he was transferred to the PC Tanjuij. There, he played for a seaon in the High Court before his career was brutally stopped by two successive injuries. At the end of the season his contract with the PC Tanjuij was not renewed but his injuries also prevented him from rejoining the PC Rahui'o'a. It's after this failed attempt at a Pitz career that Kalei Tun returned to daily Kajatz training at his father's school, even if it was first only as a recovery method for a potential return to the Court.
