Template:Infobox Military Unit The 122nd Fighter Squadron (122nd FS) is a unit of the Aquitaynian Air Forces Colonial Command 8th Air Wing located at Freiyer Air Base, Cape Town, Insula Fera. The 121st is equipped with the Emmerian F-29 Warrior stealth air superiority fighter.

The squadron is a descendant organization of the 122d Observation Squadron, established on 30 July 1940. It is one of the 29 original Air Force Reserve Observation Squadrons of the Aquitaynian Army Air Corps formed before 1965.

History

The 122nd Observation Squadron was formed in December 1940 at the Sangura Municipal Airport, (currently known as Lakefront Airport). Two months later, with an assortment of aircraft to fly, the unit was called to active service at Tuska Air Base, Acril, in response to a general military call-up following the bombing of Telora.

However, the unit would be disbanded in 1943 due to budget restraints and the unit's lack of foreign service.

Origins

The units origins were established during their service in response to the Telora Bombings in 1940 as well as their service throughout the Great War on the split island of Treicha, in defense of the Aquitaynian citizens who lived there.

Great War

The unit would be reinstated during the Great War, and would be deployed to Treicha in an effort to fight of the Commisar's and Japanese. The unit would take heavy losses during the campaign, and would eventually be so damaged that the officers within the squadron resulted to flying captured enemy planes and aircraft which were not deemed flyable by the ground technicians in an effort to remain in the battle.

The squadron infamously had one of its officers, Junior Lieutenant Hilliam Warris, beheaded by Japanese soldiers before the eyes of his commanders in a show of strength and mercilessness. Though a symbol of respect in Japanese culture, it would be seen as barbarism to the Aquitaynians, and would prompt the Air Force's use of napalm and nerve gases on the battlefield.

8th Air Wing

The 122nd Fighter Squadron would enter the 8th Air Wing on 17 March 2005.
