The 44th Federal Parliament came about due to the 43rd Federal Parliament being dissolved by President Jacob Zarman after the Fourth Winston Cabinet collapsed.

The current parliament was elected in a special election on 22 July, 2020 and the parliament was seated on 10 August, 2020

Changes

Elizabeth Rœth left the Democratic Socialists and became an independent politician after the failed 13 November motion of confidence in the Gœs Government which she voted for.

This brought the Democratic Socialists down to 209 and brought the now Left United Coalition down to 241.
