Joy in the Silence (Tengarian: Pадост в Тишината) is a 2021 Tengarian documentary film, written, directed and produced by Bogomil Petarev. The film is is an honest and intimate depiction of the lives of the monks of the Monastery of the Incarnate Logos in Silenya, Tengaria, which has a reputation for being one the most austere monasteries in the Episemialist Church. Shot and edited by Petarev alone while living with the monks in the monestary, the film is notable for its lack of artificial effects and staging, instead relying soley on the sights, sounds and visuals which the monks themselves would see. After waiting for permission to film in the Monastery for 20 years, Petarev filmed over the course of 9 months, and then spent two years editing the footage.
The film will debut at the 82nd Montecara Film Festival in late October of 2021, and will be released in Tengarian theatres on October 29th.
