This article lists the political parties of Belmonte.
Overview
The first Belmontese political party was the Liberal Party, which supported the creation of a federal presidential republic and was responsible for leading the Federalist Revolt and creating the First Republic, meanwhile, the opposition to liberal rule united themselves under the Conservative Party. Over the remaining of the 19th century, both parties would rule Belmonte through the oligarchic Riachuelo Agreement until the dissolution of the Liberal Party in 1906, causing a political crisis that led to the National Renovation Coup and the Berquó Era.
With the establishment of the New Republic in 1935, Belmonte became a multi-party system, with various political parties exerting varying levels of influence in the national political framework, the two biggest of them being the centre-right National Republican Union and the centre-left Social Democratic Party.
