The Grand Fleet was the Cacertian Royal Navy’s main battle fleet between mid-1910 and late 1920. Serving as the Cacertian Empire’s primary asset during its expansionist period, many of the Empire’s foreign policies were forcefully implemented via usage of gunboat diplomacy. The presence of the Grand Fleet often preceded itself and the it successful usage in eastern Siduri was a major factor in the politics leading up to an eventual conflict with the Republic of Syara.

Although not all of the ships of the Grand Fleet were available for use when Admiral Lea Davion set sail for Syara, over one hundred total warships departed from Fumicino and Paviolo in August 1916. Cacertian naval strategy at the time was entirely dictated by the Decisive Battle Doctrine which focused on a large climactic battle fought between battleships to determine a war at sea. While the Cacertian Empire fielded some of the most powerful pre-dreadnought and dreadnought battleships at the time, Syaran maneuver tactics which focused on the usage of long-range torpedoes managed to inflict significant damage on the Grand Fleet throughout the war.

The failure of the Grand Fleet to succeed in the initial naval campaign eventually resulted in Cacertian High Command to defer to the Royal Army’s plan of a full-scale invasion. Due to the Grand Fleet’s poor performance, Cacerta’s naval doctrine underwent significant strategic and organizational changes which also resulted in the Grand Fleet’s disbandment in late 1920.
