Paretia in the Euclovision Song Contest

Paretia will participate in the Euclovision Song Contest in Piraea. The 2022 entry for Paretia will be selected at the 56th edition of the Festival da Canção, an annual competition run by Paretia's national public broadcasting company, Rede de Mídia Paretiana. The first showcase will be held on 17 February, and the final on 24 February. The event will be held at the Teatro São Abraão in Herança, Luzela.

Background

As of 2022, Paretia has particpated in the Euclovision Song Contest 58 times since it's debut at the 1964 edition of the contest. Paretia has won on XX occations, in XX.

In the previous 2021 edition of Euclovision, Paretia was represented by Raquel da Vila with the song Espalha Brasas, which placed 15th with 78 total points.

Paretia is known for it's use of it's multiple national languages for it's songs, including Luzelese, Esmeiran, Tosuton, and Visegan. Each language has been representing in Euclovision by Paretia at least once, Paretia's largest language, Luzelese, is the most common language used by Paretia's entries. Other languages that have been used for Paretia's songs include Gaullican and Estmerish.

Rede de Mídia Paretiana, Paretia's national public broadcaster, annually airs a competition, the Festival da Canção to select a song to represent Paretia at Euclovision. In 2021 RMP announced plans for Paretia to participate in Euclovision 2022.

Festival da Canção

Festival da Canção 2022 will be the 56th edition of the Festival da Canção, it has been the main system for selection Paretia's entries to Euclovision since 1966. It will be consist of three shows: two semi-finals and one final, they will be held on the 7, 17, and 24 February respectively, the final being the last of the shows.

Each of the shows will be held at the Teatro São Abraão in Herança, and will be broadcasted on RMP. All three shows will be hosted by Andrés Alfredo Espada, Mateo José Azucena, Ramona Gusmão Sapateiro and Raquel da Vila.

Competing Entries

Festival da Canção is one of the strictest national music competitions in Euclea, and the shortlists for partipants are very small and highly selective. A total of 491 entries were submitted by both newcomer or established artists, RMP's commission for selection made a shortlists of the entries throughout late 2021 and early 2022, making the number of entries down to 18 artists.
