The Ethnic Minorities Benefits Act (Namorese: Сосуминзу Лийиhа) is an act passed by the Namorese government that allows ethnic minorities to be entitled to several social benefits by the state, including complete coverage of medical care, coverage of tertiary education tuition fees and financial loans. These benefits are not offered to such an extent for Kannei Namorese, the largest ethnic group.
The act does not guarantee all ethnic minorities the same amount of benefits by the government - several factors, including the minority group's population size, customs and relationship with the central government are considered to determine what benefits they receive. What the act does guarantee, however, is that ethnic minorities will have more leeway in applying for state benefits than do Kannei Namorese. The act has been controversial in some cases due to concerns regarding its level of enforcement in some places, as well as attempts by some Kannei to illegally apply for benefits by registering themselves to the state as ethnic minorities. Some have regarded this act as a form of reverse discrimination.
