Katharina XII (Adelheid Brunhilde Clotilde Cunegunde Ermengarde Gisela Katharina Margaret Winifred; born 20 April 1984) is Empress of Angvar. She is the first monarch from a non-ruling noble family rather from the Angvarian imperial family, having acceded to the Great Arcane Throne upon the death of her late husband, Charles IV on 30 January 2016 and crowned herself on 19 August the following year.

Born to the distinguished Beintrussel family in Gol'kôg, Vitebellia Governorate, the future Katharina XII is the third of seven daughters of Ernst Heribert, Marquis of Beintrussel and Lady Johanna Khâz'gorôkh, and was known as "Katy" to her family and close friends. The siblings moved to Novigard where she was educated at Khâr'shúbskaï Boarding School and attended Ravensbruck, Ghôlronk and Ûdmir Colleges. While working as an assistant librarian for three years in the Rhâgrosh Quarter of the city, she was summoned to Mordegard as one of the ladies-in-waiting to the Dowager Empress Liselotte. It was there when, in the summer of 2005, she met the Crown Prince Imperial, Charles Eberhard, who then became Charles IV at the death of his father, Frederick VII; their marriage lasted eight years until his unexpected death in 2016 from serious complications of bronchitis. They had three children, namely: Conrad Frederick, the heir apparent; Filibert Helmut, and Adelheid. When her husband died, she ensured that their eldest child was not expected to inherit the throne at a 'fragile' age in spite of being the heir apparent.

As Empress consort, she undertakes official duties on behalf of her husband. She is a patron, president or member of several hundred academic organizations. An avid enjoyer of symphonic, easy listening and light music, she is a friend of and patron to composers Helmut Pebblefrow and Ezzio Rossi and holds the position of Principal Conductor of the Imperial Angvarian Symphony Ensemble to this day. As monarch, she holds the ultimate commanding authority over the Imperial Armed Forces as Supreme Commander-in-Chief, plays the role of supreme representation of the Empire in global relations, and is the Sovereign and Supreme Head and Pontiff over the Angvarian Ecumenical Catheric Church.

On 31 January 2016, Katharina proclaimed herself Empress at St. Morgana's Basilica. Two years since her coronation, she initiated an anti-subversion campaign, causing the dismissal and consecutive liquidation of a large number of government officials suspected of dissent and treason. She presided over the show trial of Hildebrand Thalmann, the son of Social Republican leader Helmut Thalmann, who was convicted of the assassination of Albert IV, and whose execution on 1 May 2018 along with seventy-two conspirators was met with growing violent opposition to the monarchy. The military crackdown on the 2018 Lagrath Square protests, the summary execution of leading pro-democracy activists, the construction of additional prison camps across Transudelia and the ennoblement of convicted war criminal Klaus Archambaud as marquis and controversial Infernian-born writer and esotericist Libitina Bartley-Wolff as countess earned her condemnation from the global community. During the tenure of the Duke of Doth as Lord High Chancellor of Angvar and First Lord of the Privy Council, she gave assent to the elimination of political privileges of the Church seen as pretext for subversion while investing Pope Theodacus V Decius and appointing him to the Privy Council, for which she was heavily criticized by advocates of religious liberty as borderline intensifying caesaropapism. She re-asserted control over Curvania in quelling the June Mutiny, ordered a military intervention in the Ostenian Realm against syndicalist and integralist rebel groups, and issued an edict prohibiting the Maulland Sea Trade Union Group from gathering due to the 2021 Vladivoyna Shipyard Incident.

Katharina ruled as a totalitarian monarch with unrestrainable absolute power, maintaining the same cult of personality her leadership followed as her husband and previous Angvarian sovereigns.
