MalTube is an online video hosting platform and media service headquarters in Aurora, Malgrave. It is one of the most popular websites in Malgrave, with a mixture of content uploaded from amateur sources, professional content creators and more established bodies like the Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation.

History

With the development of the personal computer in the 50s and 60s, a group of engineers working for MalTec theorised the creation of a video-sharing platform which would host content from the Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation, however, at the time the number of personal computers in circulation was quite low, as a majority of units were located within ASG buildings and so the plans were deemed impractical.

In 2000, a group of students studying at Niels Bohr Academy were looking for an easier way of sharing videos within their friendship circle, as current methods involved sending files directly to individual users or copying them onto CDs. While researching alternate methods, Lucia Alesci discovered old proposals from MalTec which included early work on a video-sharing platform idea.

Following this discovery, Lucia Alesci and a group at Niels Bohr Academy started working on an updated video platform model, with a slight change to the original proposal to allow for content to be freely uploaded to the site. After a couple of years of work, MalTube was released to the public, initially, the first videos uploaded from the site came primarily from around the Academy, however, after a few weeks traffic to the website increased and videos started to be uploaded from across Malgrave.

Since then a variety of content creators have emerged on MalTube, with Imeriata Digitised establishing itself as a popular channel that discusses Imerian topics and reviews Imerian products such as field rations. Cityscape, a channel which uploads videos reviewing various aspects of the MalTra network has also become popular, and the country has a multitude of channels dedicated to exploring developments in m-pop and others reviewing various canteens across the country and the rice beer and alcohol on offer in various establishments.

MalTube has also become a new avenue for m-pop fans to showcase their support for artists, with global fans unions organising campaigns to stream music videos uploaded onto the site by their favourite idols.

MalTube Music

In 2010 MalTube launched MalTube Music, a music streaming service which runs separately from MalTube and allows people to stream music with the application still in the background.

MalTube Music has worked with notable groups such as Eclipse and has since become one of the most popular music streaming services in Malgrave.
