Eclipse is a Malgravean idol group that was formed in 2008 by Ascension Musical Productions, the group secured considerable success within Malgrave itself and has been credited with starting a Malgravean-wave across Mystria assisting the development of Malgravean television and cinema as well, as following the groups hiatus many of its members have gone on to have successful careers as actors.

Foundation

In 2007, MBC announced the creation of a new music competition called Music Idol Camp, the show would put several aspiring vocal performers (known as idols due to their varying musical and dance talents) against each other, with their performances being judged by a combination of professional judges and the popular vote.

As the first season of Musical Idol Camp was coming to a close Ascension Musical Productions was looking for a new idol group to help promote Malgravean culture overseas, an initiative promoted by Seo Yi-kyung and Eliot Reymont to foster connections between Malgrave and nations across Mystria and beyond, with the company scouting talent from Musical Idol Camp as potential new members.

After a series of music aptitude, comparability and popularity tests Eclipse was formed, with the group consisting of former contestants from Musical Idol Camp and trainees from the vocal academy of Ascension Musical Productions.

2008-2012 - Debut & Rise

Eclipse announced their formation half-way through 2008 by appearing in a small promotional tour organised by MalTec, with Rhee Chae-Yeong leading members in a virtual adventure alongside the familiar Pesaro otter virtual assistant used by MalTra and MalMart. Following the announcement Eclipse debuted with the single Arrival with the pre-debut hype around the group resulting in the song topping the local charts for nearly ten weeks.

In the months that followed their successful launch Eclipse performed on multiple music shows such as Weekly Music Countdown and Music Showcase, and the group engaged in its first concert of the country to engage with fans, including visits to military bases engaged in counter-terrorism and even visiting ships of the Royal Navy taking part in anti-slavery/piracy operations.

In the next few years Eclipse cemented their position as the largest girl group in the country, releasing a further three mini-albums and two studio albums.

2012-2018 - Expansion & Hiatus

In 2012 Eclipse and Ascension Musical Production signed collaborative agreements with record companies across Mystria and the Dornalian Republic to help the promotion of their music overseas, at the same time Eclipse members such as Amelia Ricci and Janina Pasternack began to pioneer the use of the MalTec Capybara, a live video chat service which allows idols to stream themselves and respond to questions posed by fans in real-time, with Rhee Chae-Yeong and Park Eun-Ji eventually joining these broadcasts which involved either solo, mixed groups or the complete group.

In the same year Silverdale became the first country to host Eclipse, a recognition of the small but dedicated following that had formed inside the country and engaged with Eclipse members during Capybara sessions, with the group starting off with a concert in Snowy Light where they thanked fans that had translated clips from their video chats from Malgravean Ancient to the Silverdalean language.

While touring Silverdale Park Eun-Ji and Amelia Ricci engaged in a short video series called Noob to Pro? with Miranda Songbird attempting to teach the two idols the art of professional gaming with comic results due to Eun-Ji's competitive personality and Amelia's cuddle elf nature.

Back in Malgrave Eclipse continued their domination of the local music scene, being a constant presence on music shows and releasing a further three mini-albums.

At the start of 2018 Eclipse announced that they were going on hiatus, with the members engaging in their own individual acting an solo musical career.

2021 - Present - Return

Following the start of the Grogar crisis the Royal Malgravean Times reported that Eclipse would be reforming and touring Mystria to raise money for the campaign against Grogar, this was confirmed by Ascension Musical Productions who started that all the profits raised by these ventures would be going to an ASG-led charity effort that had been formed in response to the crisis.

Fandom

Fans of Eclipse are called Shadows, this name was selected by fans in 2009 during a live video chat between Eclipse and fans, the name comes from the shadow caused by eclipse.

Despite Eclipses hiatus Shadows remain active on social media, with fan accounts dedicated to favourite members and a “fan unions” promoting the group.

International Reception

Silverdale

In Silverdale, Eclipse is popular amongst the subculture 'Eclipsedalean/M-Poppers' and received general praise. While it was a niche following in the early 10's, it exploded in popularity when the collab with Miranda Songbird and its members, Park Eun-Ji and Amelia Ricci, happened with a few popular video game titles. The two have occasional collaborations in dance, streaming, and cameos in movies.

The Absolute Royal Federation

Despite most foreign cultural influences are strictly frowned upon by federal society are there still imports from Malgrave that is then resold in the federation by the royal merchant guild. Far larger than what one would expect from the normally so xenophobic federal population. Despite the general dislike of such activities has some younger women in the nobility come out as being "Malföljare" of "Mal followers" and fond of all things Malgravean, especially bands like eclipse have been very popular amongst these young girls.
