The Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) is the national broadcaster of the United Kingdom of Malgrave. Headquartered in Epping it was originally established to provide radio services to the Malgravean people, however, it has since outreached into other forms of media and is presently the largest broadcaster in Malgrave with slightly over 23,000 people employed by the broadcaster as of 2022.

Due to its role in several key parts of Malgravean history such as the Great Exodus, Malgravean Civil War, Lost Decade and the Great Humiliation the broadcaster has gained a positive reputation within the country and is popular across a majority of demographics inside the country.

History

With developments in radio technology, a small group of enthusiasts across the country had started small broadcast networks showcasing music, poetry, philosophical debate and other forms of entertainment. Such broadcasts were entertaining and steadily grew in popularity across the country, however, the costs of establishing these networks and general fears across the military meant that more formal arrangements were eventually created for these amateur broadcasts and a few different networks were formed.

In recognition of these developments, the government worked to create a broadcaster of its own to platform art and provide an avenue for the state to make official announcements and proclamations that didn't rely on private infrastructure, and so the Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation was established in 1918.

Initially, the Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation was focused solely on radio broadcast, however, following the development of television in the 30s this new form of broadcasting was embraced by the company, but the start of the Great Exodus meant that broadcasting was interrupted for a few months until new infrastructure could be constructed in the new Malgravean mainland.

Due to the resource crisis that followed the Great Exodus and the outbreak of the Malgravean Civil War, a great number of Malgravean households didn't have access to television sets and the number of people accessing this new form of the broadcast was quite low, however, these sets eventually became more common in ASG centres across the country which made the format increasingly popular with household sets eventually becoming more popular in the 50s.

Television Channels

The Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation oversee a variety of channels which are available to watch 24/7 on multiple formats.

MBC One

MBC One is regarded as the flagship channel on MBC, and is where the broadcasting corporation show off their most successful television shows such as Ancestral Guest House, Travellers and Music Idol Camp. As a result it is often the most viewed channel in the country aside from during special live events like underwater exploration missions, national holidays and space missions.

MBC Two

MBC Two is the second channel on MBC and was established to showcase more experimental and ambitious programming, and so has historically showcased shows that explore potentially controversial topics in Malgravean history, with recent examples being dramas based on the events that took place during the fall of the National Workers' Republic. A popular example is Sailor on Tour which is a series that was transferred over from MalTube.

MBC Three

MBC Three was created to show-off education programming to adults, and has developed numerous documentaries on subjects ranging from music, wildlife and historical events. A lot of popular documentaries, such as a popular series on Puffin Island have since gone on to be showcased on MBC One.

MBC Four

MBC Four was established in the 1980s following the merger of television networks from the Socialist Republic and National Workers Republic into MBC. It was formalised as an education channel designed to benefit children, and so has numerous shows designed to enhance a childs understanding while remaining fun and it has been credited with an increase in university placements in the country.

MBC Kids

MBC Kids is a channel designed simply to provide entertaining shows to children, although, it also has another mandate to provide thought-provoking products in an effort to try and spark debate and intellect in young minds. Adventurer High School is perhaps its most popular export in recent years.

MBC Sport

MBC Sport showcases sport from across Malgrave, with popular highlights being sailing, chess, boxing, climbing, fencing and football. It is quite popular in Pakosc, Aurora and Portmon but doesn't have a great audience in Omsk and Epping.

MBC News

MBC News is a 24/7 news service. It provides continual updates on daily occurrences within Malgrave and the general international community and provides a platform for deeper investigatory news pieces, and also has a history from reporting from conflict zones which it performed recently during troubles in Silverdale.

Radio Channels

MBC Radio One was established to showcase a selection of the most popular music in the country, and it regularly showcases a selection of music from the charts performed by groups like Venus and solo artists like Yukika Saito and Park Eun-Ji

MBC Radio Two

MBC Radio Two was established in the 1970s and is intended to play music for an older audience, although, it often has a mixed age demographic due to the recent increase in popualrity around city pop. It often includes popular artists as hosts, with Sakura Saito being a popular host.

MBC Radio Three

MBC Radio Three serves as a major outlet for radio plays in the country, and the station plays host to some long-running series such as Apartment Block 31A which has run for 47 years. It also has a few variety shows that are quite popular with older listeners as a few of them are based on old games played by the Territorial Defence Force.

MBC Radio Four

MBC Radio Four is purely dedicated to poetry and philosophical debates, and as a result has been called one of the nerdiest radio channels in the country. It has frequent poetry hours in which students from across the country read both famous works of poetry and poems they themselves have written, as a result a number of famous poets have become discovered through the show.

MBC Sport Radio

MBC Sport Radio follows the same purpose as MBC Sport, although, it is often known for superior quality in commentary which has been credited due to the need to more clearly describe the action during sporting events due to the lack of picture.

MBC News Radio

MBC News Radio was established to deliver internal and external news to the populace, since the development of television it has branched to deliver in-depth interviews with experts on a variety of fields and has also become noted for its mature coverage of controversial topics, such as the debate over end-of-life MIDD care and the future of the monarchy following the Great Humiliation.

MBC Play

In 2003 the Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation launched MBC Play, a streaming service designed to play television shows and radio broadcasts directly to MalTec devices such as the Auklet. Initially MBC Play only had shows that were made after the development of the service, however, in 2008 an effort was made to catalogue and archive historical productions and now earlier broadcasts can be watched freely on MBC Play.

Such an effort has led to a rapid increase in audience for musical shows that were originally broadcast in the 1980s, and is partially credited for the surge of support for citypop which aided in the career of artists like Yukika Saito

Revenue

The Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation is funded partially through taxes, however, it is also supported through the existence of MBC International, a subsidiary of the broadcasting corporation which sells merchandise and broadcasting rights for popular shows overseas with products like Ancestral Guest House and Disavowed earning a lot of money for the network.
