The Van Lao-class aircraft carrier is a planned pair of aircraft carriers for the Syaran Commonality Navy. They are intended to supplement the Tenahli-class and be launched sometime in the mid 2020s. Both are currently under construction in Vechad; neither have been given official names. They are named after the Battle of Van Lao.
The Van Lao-class are predicted to weigh 75,000 tons, with a length of 310 meters and a bean of 85 meters. Unlike its predecessors, the Van Lao-class will be nuclear powered, giving it an effectively unlimited range. A crew of over 2,000 (including both naval and air personnel) are expected. The total complement of aircraft is estimated to be 50+ Ortyx stealth fighters, which are being concurrently developed. The class will also feature electromagnetic launch catapults along with an integrated electric propulsion system, expected to produce enough power to support laser point defenses.
