Renee Knapp (born 12 January 1955) is a Zamastanian lawyer and politician who serves as the Senator for Jade's 8th senatorial district since 2022. Born in Little Tribe River, Knapp served as the city's mayor from 2008-2016, after which she was a Conservative Party organizer in the provincial chapter, helping elevate many candidates to office. Prior to her political career, she was a prosecutor for the city from 1987-2007, thirty years which gained her significant media attention in cases such as the trial of serial killer Abraham Poaik.
A member of the Conservative Party, Knapp has quickly risen in prominence to be one of the most influential voices of the modern far-right movement in Zamastan. Knapp's positions have often been described as extremist and nationalistic, and her proposals of several anti-immigration, anti-abortion, and anti-gay legislations have been widely condemned by her own party in most instances. She has also been criticized for islamaphobic and xenophobic comments in public statements and social media posts, which have led to her censure on two occassions by her party's leadership. However, Knapp supports embryonic stem cell research and voted for a bill to ban the cloning of human embryos, breaking with her party and voting with a majority of liberals, to repeal restrictions on embryonic stem-cell research funding.
