Florentine Verrucosus, Lord Verrucosus of Gerasa (Gnaeus Verrucosus Radus Florentinus; b. 1 November 1958) is a Latin billionaire, and politician who has served as High Commissioner of the Belisarian Community, one of the main institutions of the Community, since 2014.
He is the second eldest legitimate child of former Consul and general Felix Verrucosus, 1st Lord of Istropolis and his wife Damiane Vitruvia. Verrucosus served as a Senator for Olbia from 1991 until his resignation in 1996 to serve as Master of Offices and Count of the Chancery on the Advisors to the Emperor. Prior to exiting his role as leader of the Emperor's Council, he was made Propraetor of Karchidonia in southern Latium. In 2000 he stepped down as Propraetor to focus on serving on the board of Verrucosus Industries.
Verrucosus later ran for Senate in 2005, standing unopposed in the staunchly Conservative constituency of Mateola in the city of Utica. He briefly served on the Vindóbona shadow cabinet as Conservative Party Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs. Following Vindóbona's resignation as Conservative leader, speculation was high that Verrucosus would make a bid at the leadership, even with a "Draft Verrucosus" write-in campaign among some Conservative voters. Ultimately he did not stand in the 2016 leadership election.
Verrucosus was made a life peer as The Lord Verrucosus of Gerasa on 15 September 1994 by Diana Augusta.
Early Life and family
Verrucosus was born on 1 November 1958, at Villa d'Iulia Concordia, the familial estate near Utica. He is the second eldest legitimate child of famed Latin general, Consul and businessman Felix Verrucosus, 1st Lord of Istropolis and Damiane Vitruvia. Florentine has one older brother, John and a younger sister, Zoe, as well as an illegitimate brother, Pelagius. He was baptized in the Alban Apostolic Church on 25 December 1958 by Neophytus VIII, Apostolic Patriarch of Alexandria, at St. Andrew's Cathedral. His godparents were Prince Leo, Duke of Apennina and Diana Augusta.

High Commissioner
Verrucosus's name was originally floated among the Belisarian Council to serve as a Commissioner. Though due to the political leanings of the Council and his own disinterest, Verrucosus remained in the private sector until his second Senate bid in 2005. In early 2014, the Council discussed the upcoming Commission appointments for the upcoming year. While Consul Maria Tarpeia reportedly held a tense relationship with Florentine and the Verrucosus family, she offered his name to the Council for the role of High Commissioner following a decision by Emperor Jason VI Augustus to see Verrucosus appointed to the Commission.
Florentine eventually took office as High Commissioner on 29 May 2014, becoming the third Latin to hold the position. The BC has continued to grow throughout Verrucosus's tenure as High Commissioner.
Personal life
Verrucosus is married to Theodosia Ambusta-Lafrenia, a Latin noblewoman and daughter of John Ambustus-Lafrenius, 6th Viscount of Lussonia. The two are reported to have first met while Verrucosus was working for Verrucosus Industries and Lady Theodosia was a student at the University of Utica in 1985. They married in 1985 and together have three children, Felix, Ablabius, and Theocharista.
In his youth, Verrucosus first entered the national spotlight when it was reported that he and Princess Isabella of Latium were in a relationship. At the time Isabella was a first year student at Castellum College, Florentine was a graduate student at The King's School at Castellum College. The two were rumored to have dated in 1982, and while a relationship was never confirmed it is believed they were in a relationship from at least 1983 until 1984 and were rumored to have had an affair in 1987.
