His Excellency the Honorable Lord Edwyrd Jaal (born Edwyrd Honorius Jaal on November 25th, 1963) is a South Ottonian and Draakuri politician and the most-recent Chancellor of South Ottonia, having held office from August 12th, 2010 until the office was functionally abolished in March of 2022 during the South Ottonian Revolution. Jaal has been the leader of the Ottonian Restoration Party, de jure since 2006 and de facto since 2001, and is believed to also have ties to the Golden Lances.
Jaal is a member of the aristocratic Jaal family, a family that has been influential in Ottonian politics dating back to the Ottonian Wars of Unification. He is also, through his mother, Koryn of Onneria, a member of a junior branch of the princely House of Heligsburg.
Unfortunately for his legacy, Jaal is also closely associated with a pattern of austerity measures enacted by the South Ottonian Senate over the past two decades, as well as with the heavy-handed response to a series of strikes and protests that spiraled into the South Ottonian Revolution. As such, Jaal is currently out-of-favor and his political career appears to be at a crossroads. In the interim he has taken up a vocal position in the opposition to the Emergency Transitional Administration and its leader, Stevan Grimmeburger.
