Samplexicon is a Gylian public organisation providing a database of information about sampling in music, cover songs, and remixes. It is part of the publinet.
Since its establishment, Samplexicon has had a significant impact and role in Gylian pop culture. It is the main source of information regarding sampling in music, and a significant contributor to Gylias' remix culture.
History
NetStream was founded in 1996, as part of an effort to harness the increasingly popular internet for social and public service needs. It was one of the last music-focused publinet sites to be created, being related to the Freemix project.
The site was launched on 1 January 1997.
Samplexicon has been one of Gylias' most popular websites since its launch. It has experienced substantial user growth and has continued to expand functionality and services for users. Updates have included new user features and compatibility with mobile operating systems.
The site had 500.000 registered users as of December 2018.
Features
Samplexicon is an online database of sampling. It displays connections between works and lists samples used, with details about what was sampled and links to Proton and NetStream that specify exactly where the sample occurs.
Samples covered include music, films, television series, and games.
It also lists connections between cover songs and remixes.
The database is user-generated and reviewed by moderators.
Publinet connections
Works uploaded through Freemix are automatically connected to the rest of the publinet, which forms a unified database. A program automatically scans uploads and generates links to respective entries on the other websites.
Works uploaded to Proton and Freemix automatically generate Samplexicon entries.
Samples of media used in NetStream videos automatically create Samplexicon entries.
Funding
As a public organisation, Samplexicon is primarily funded from the federal government's budget, with contributions from regional and municipal governments. Users with accounts can also pay a subscription to support the site.

Samplexicon is legally a public organisation, registered as an Ass. The company is organised as a cooperative and governed by workers' self-management.
Its headquarters are in Arxas, Nauras, forming an area known as the Ţiksagon.
Geographic availability
Samplexicon is mainly available in Gylias, but can be accessed from anywhere in Tyran, as it does not use geo-blocking or regional lockout mechanisms.
