The Rodese Republic (Rodese: Republica Rodesa) is a country in western Belisaria bordering (Eona?) to the east, and Vannois and Latium to the south, with Gelonia and a maritime border with Arthurista to the west. Its territory surrounds the Lazarene Sea, with access to the Angusta Sea to the south and the Salacian Ocean to the west. Internally, the Rodese Republic consists of the eponymous sovereign city of Roda and its dependencies spanning the Lazarene. Roda is in contention for the title of the oldest independent republic still in existence, having been founded in the year 797 and negotiating its independence during the Latin-Audonian split of the late 11th century. The Republic has remained as a neutral secondary power and stable fixture in the western Belisarian landscape for nearly a millennium.
