West Besmenia

Like many other large cities in West Besmenia, Ochsenbeinfurt was a scene of the West Besmenian Revolution. The destruction during the revolution left a total of 2500 people homeless.

After the founding of the West Besmenian Republic, a movement in Ochsenbeinfurt also called for the historic city name to be returned. In a referendum on January 8, 1967, the residents of the city were able to make their cross for Ochsenbeinfurt or Berkafurt. The result was: 94.5% of the votes for Berkafurt. The new, democratically elected city parliament decided at its first session on March 1, 1967 to rename Ochsenbeinfurt to Berkafurt.
