The Royal Maritime Police (Radictistani: Dukliche Maritimpolizei) is the coast guard and primary marine regulatory agency of the Grand Duchy of Radictistan. It is suboordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The agency's responsibilities include fisheries protection, maritime search-and-rescue, anti-smuggling operations, and the enforement of maritime regulations and laws. The Royal Maritime Police has approximately 28,000 personnel and several dozen vessels of varying size. The Royal Maritime Police is paramilitary in organization and transitions to military control in time of war.
Mission
The Royal Maritime Police is tasked with the following core missions:
- Enforcement of Radictistani maritime regulations and laws
- Enforcement of Radictistan's exclusive economic zone
- Interdiction of contraband within Radictistani territorial waters
- Maritime search and rescue
- Security at major commercial ports
- Accreditation and regulation of maritime colleges
- Provision of timely navigational and meteorological warnings to seafarers
Organization
Individual ships are deployed together into numbered "Boat Squadrons." Aircraft of like type are also organized into Squadrons. At a higher level of command Radictistan's territorial waters and exclusive economic zone are divided into areas of responsibility each under the control of a Maritime District commanded by a flag officer or senior Captain. There are eight districts. District 1 covers the western coast of Norcustsur. District 2 encompasses the coast of Westwoodsur and District 3 the coast of Erdwoodsur. District 4 covers the entire Hyarp cape. District 5 runs along the coast of Eastval up to the mouth of the Eastval River. District 6 covers the remaining Eastval coastline. District 7 stretches the length of the Yestingsur coastline. District 8 covers the east coast of Norcustsur.
Personnel
The Royal Security Police has about twenty-eight thousand personnel including commissioned officers, warrant officers, and petty officers in addition to junior enlisted personnel. The Royal Maritime Police uses the same rank structure as the Royal Radictistan Navy prefixed with the word "Police." Commissioned officers are trained at the Royal Maritime Police Academy in Ghorma, County of Yestingsur. Enlisted personnel are trained at a facility located near Capstat, County of Hyarpsur. Because of their paramilitary status, persons serving in the Royal Maritime Police are unaffected by conscription regulations.
