Reunited Besmenia

During the reunification process in 1966/1967, Prime Minister Johannes Schmidt proposed a new flag for the reunified Besmenia, which he said should be a national symbol for both East Besmenians and West Besmenians. Most of his cabinet opposed this proposal. They wanted to keep the star flag and only add the 7 new future federal states as stars to the flag. Schmidt was later able to prevail for his proposal. The new flag was introduced in September 1967 and became the official flag on September 14th at exactly midnight.
