List of political parties in Pacitalia
Pacitalia's proportional representation electoral system allows for smaller, regional, and special interest parties to enjoy long-term sustainability within the country's politics. However, as in other countries, national politics is dominated by a small handful of "big tent" parties.
Pacitalia is considered to be one of the earliest adopters of a party system, having had political parties since the 16th century. Elections Pacitalia, the government agency that supervises elections and referenda in Pacitalia, is responsible for political party registration and de-registration. The following lists sort registered parties by the size of their national assembly and whether or not they operate nationally or regionally. Note that some parties have larger presences in regional politics, compared to nationally, as of 2024.
National parties
Notes
† Merger of two older parties, the Pacitalian Social Congress and the Democratic Nationalist Party.
* Electoral alliance (and, as of December 2024, a pending formal merger) of two older parties, the Federation of Progressive Democrats and the Pacitalian Green Party.

Suspended or dissolved parties
If a political party is found to have violated elections law or other laws, Elections Pacitalia has the power to suspend their registration and effectively bar that party from contesting an election. In severe cases, the elections authority can dissolve a party. Candidates from a suspended or dissolved party may also be banned from running, or may have to switch parties or run as an independent candidate.
Recent examples of party suspensions are the Pacitalian Social Congress, which was suspended in 2011 due to campaign finance rule violations, and the Federation of Progressive Democrats, suspended in 2018 following the Dirty Fingers scandal. Both parties were reinstated.
One party, the far-right Franciscan Front, is currently suspended as of December 2024, due to failure to file their annual report in 2024 and pay their party registration fee, as required under elections law. If the party does not remedy this by the next annual report filing due date on February 1st, 2025, they will be de-registered. The party had been temporarily de-registered for the same reason between 2019 and 2021.
No party has ever been dissolved (a penalty based on electoral misconduct that is legally distinct from de-registration).
