Hatirou Nakayama (Senrian: 나까야마하띠로우, Nakayama Hatirou; June 11, 1897 - July 26, 1978) was a Senrian general who served as the second Prime Minister of Senria between 1948 and 1951. Nakayama graduated from the Tokiyori National Military Academy and joined the Imperial Senrian Army in 1915, and served in the Senrian Revolution within the imperial forces, but followed his commander Sintarou Miyake into the Senrian Republican Army when Miyake defected to the republicans in 1926. With the support of Miyake, Nakayama was promoted to the rank of general by Katurou Imahara in 1928.
Nakayama played a major role in the Senrian-Xiaodongese War, commanding Senrian forces in western Kitasuu for much of the war. While Senria did ultimately win the war, and Nakayama was heavily decorated for his role within it, Nakayama was unable to prevent his wife Kimiko and three children from dying during the Senrian Genocide. While Nakayama did remarry and had another child, the loss of his family made him paranoid and bitter. In spite of this, Imahara- now Prime Minister of Senria- designated Nakayama as his successor in 1948.
As Prime Minister, Nakayama cracked down on opposition, enacting strict press censorship, banning public protest, and jailing members of the opposing Republican Party. His increasing brutality and paranoia worried many within the People's Party, who feared that Nakayama would potentially destabilize Senria politically and economically. A collection of government officials and military leaders known as the Second Gang of Six forced Nakayama to resign the prime ministership in 1951; he was replaced by government bureaucrat Tokiyasu Kitamura. Nakayama eventually returned to his hometown of Kamihei and lived there until his death in 1978.
