Banderhus, officially the State of Banderhus, is a constituent state of Delkora. It is the second largest state by area and the third largest by population. Its capital and second largest city is Falbaard.

Geography

Banderhus is the westernmost Delkoran state, encompassing the entirety of the border with Acrea. It is bordered to the north and northeast by Førelskov and the to the east by Vassengård. The northern coast of the state is very industrialized and constitutes much of the Abenvard metropolitan area. Topographically, northern Banderhus outside of the coastal areas is hilly and forested, while the central and southern reaches of the state consist of expansive plains. Agriculture in the north consists mainly of animal husbandry, while farming is predominant in the south. The state capital, Falbaard, is located in the central part of the state.

Demographics

Banderhus has a population of 15,405,519 as of the 2020 Federal Census, making it the third largest state by population. The state has a sizable Acrean minority, and German is the second most commonly spoken language. Vallyar is the most common religious affiliation, and Banderhus has the most registered members of the Vallyar Order of any state.

Economy

Banderhus is a relatively wealthy state with a diverse economy. The economy in the north is based on heavy industry and mining, while in the central and southern regions it revolves around agriculture. Banderhus has long boasted the greatest agricultural output of the Delkoran states, and is traditionally thought of as the "breadbasket" of the Kingdom. The state's share of the national GDP amounts to 18.7%, placing it in third behind Cybria and Førelskov. It has the highest GDP per capita of the Delkoran states.

Government and politics

The current first minister of Banderhus is Asbjørn Bonde, a member of the Conservative Party. The legislative branch of the state government consists of the 200 member Banderhus Parliament. The Constitutional Court of Banderhus is the highest judicial authority under state law, responsible for interpreting the Banderhus Constitution.

Banderhus has long had a conservative political culture, and is considered a stronghold for the Conservative Party. A notable exception to this is the north coast, which is strongly leftist and reliably supports National Labor in elections. Since 2000, every first minister of Banderhus has been a member of the Conservative Party.
